Emyri Lee Crutchfield, a talented young actress from New Orleans, Louisiana, began her acting journey at the tender age of 8, when her mother enrolled her in acting classes after noticing her impressive impersonation skills.
In addition to honing her acting craft, Emyri also pursued gymnastics from 8 to 12 years old, showcasing her athleticism and versatility.
As she grew older, Emyri's parents decided to home-school her for four years, allowing them to travel between Los Angeles and New Orleans to audition and pursue her acting career.
In 2014, Emyri was selected from among thousands to attend the prestigious Nickelodeon Groundling Sketch Comedy training program in Los Angeles.
Emyri's early acting credits include appearances in local New Orleans theater productions and independent films such as "Papers Cranes," "Pendulum," and "We Three Kings."
Her breakthrough role came in 2015, when she landed a speaking part in the film "Vacation."
In 2016, Emyri made her prime-time television debut as teenage Kizzy in the remake of the series "Roots," which aired simultaneously on Lifetime, A&E, and the History Channel.
That same year, she played the role of Zoey in Amazon Prime's series "The Kick," a show about a middle school girls' soccer team.
As a junior at the Ursuline Academy in New Orleans, Emyri is a proud member of the Merry Macs and enjoys shopping for her favorite makeup and hair products, watching makeup and hair tutorials online, reading, and listening to hip-hop music.
In addition to her acting accomplishments, Emyri has been inducted as an honorary member of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale and will serve as the Grand Marshal for their 2017 Mardi Gras Parade under the theme "MKFF Hosts Game Day."
For her outstanding performance in "Roots," Emyri is nominated for a 2017 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie or Limited-series).
She has also received recognition from the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana, the Office of the Mayor of the City of New Orleans, and the City of New Orleans City Council, all of whom praised her accomplishments at the request of Councilmember LaToya Cantrell.
