Biography

Fukatsu Eri, a talented Japanese actress, was born in the southern prefecture of Oita, where her journey in the entertainment industry began at a remarkably young age. At just thirteen, she participated in the prestigious Miss Harajuku Grand Prix held in Tokyo's iconic Harajuku neighborhood, and her victory propelled her into the spotlight. Following her win, Fukatsu quickly released a string of singles and albums, made appearances on both big and small screens, and even landed commercials for prominent brands, including train companies.

In 1989, she released a highly acclaimed photo book, showcasing her striking features and captivating persona. Her early success in the entertainment industry earned her the coveted title of Newcomer of the Year at the 13th Japan Academy Prize in 1990, for her chilling performance in the horror film "A Kiss to Moonlight."

Throughout her illustrious career, Fukatsu has utilized various pseudonyms, including Mizuhara Rie and Takahara Rie, before reverting back to her birth name. Her impressive résumé boasts numerous awards, including Best Actress at the Japan Academy Awards for her work in "Villain" and "A Ghost of a Chance." Her international recognition continued to grow, as she was named Best Actress at the 34th Montreal World Film Festival in 2010.

In 2015, her film "Journey to the Shore" premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Fukatsu's theatrical endeavors have also been notable, as she has performed in the traveling troupe from Tokyo's Setogaya Theatre, bringing the play "Shunkin" to life.

In her personal life, Fukatsu has been in a long-term relationship with fashion designer Shirayama Haruhisa and has previously dated Ozawa Kenji and Tsubaki Satoshi. She is currently managed by the renowned Amuse agency, which has played a significant role in guiding her successful career.
