Errol Trotman Harewood, a British native born in Guyana, South America, was an individual with a profound passion for the arts from a very early age. His musical education commenced at the tender age of nine when he joined the local Militia Band under the expert direction of Mr. Randolph Bennett. This marked the beginning of his journey as a musician and percussionist.
Following his reunification with his mother in England, a State Registered Nurse, Errol went on to qualify as a drummer and percussionist. His exceptional talent and dedication to his craft led him to make a name for himself as a musician and tutor during his time stationed in Germany with the British forces.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Errol also directed big bands and founded ensembles that played a diverse range of music, including jazz, R&B, funk, blues, and avant-garde. His multifaceted talents and artistic versatility allowed him to excel in various genres and styles.
Errol's acting career began in 1978 when he was discovered by renowned theatre director Siemen Ruehaak, who directed his debut lead role as Alboury, the protagonist in B.M. Coltes' political drama Blacks Battles with Dogs. This marked the beginning of his foray into the world of acting, and he went on to make his film debut in 1998 in the action thriller Straight Shooter.
Throughout his career, Errol has continued to diversify his roles and explore new opportunities. He has taken on challenging roles, including the Chief Judge of the Laws of The Seas in the ARD/Degeto TV Movie, "The Protector." This prestigious organization oversees the laws of all the waterways within the western hemisphere.
Errol's acting career has also been marked by unexpected twists and turns. For instance, he was initially rejected for a role in the film "Home Shoppers Paradise" but was later given the opportunity to star in the film just nine months later. Once cast, he discovered that he was the lead actor, a surprise that added to the excitement of his involvement in the project.
In addition, Errol was unexpectedly asked to replace another actor in the role of Detective Inspector Lomboto of the Mombasa Police, investigating a murder case. This sudden change in his role added to the challenges he faced during filming.
Today, Errol Trotman Harewood resides in Berlin, Germany, but he travels frequently to various film sets around the world. Another passion of his is the culinary arts, and he enjoys the challenges of cooking and exploring different cuisines in the kitchen.
