Born in 1961, amidst a backdrop of tumultuous times, in a family of Spanish trade unionists who, due to their strong convictions and unwavering commitment to their ideals, were forced to flee their homeland and seek refuge in Tangier, Morocco, a city steeped in rich cultural heritage and vibrant artistic expression.
As fate would have it, he was just a toddler when his parents, determined to provide a better life for their family, made the arduous journey to Switzerland in 1963, where they would work as seasonal laborers, their sweat and toil paving the way for a brighter future.
Throughout his formative years, he was drawn to the world of underground culture, where he discovered his true calling as a creative force to be reckoned with. It was in the early 1980s that he played a pivotal role in the establishment of Le Cabaret Orwell, a legendary cultural hub in Romandy, Switzerland, which would go on to become a beacon of artistic expression and a hotbed of creativity.
Initially, he honed his skills as a video programmer, laying the groundwork for a career that would soon take him to new and uncharted territories. But it was his unwavering passion for filmmaking and his determination to succeed that led him to embark on a journey of self-taught learning, ultimately transforming him into an independent filmmaker and producer of note.
Since 1983, he has been actively involved in the creation of innovative and groundbreaking experimental films and unconventional reportages for television, showcasing his unique perspective and artistic vision.
In 1985, he joined the Climage association, where he produced approximately ten documentaries that have since become landmark films, tackling crucial themes such as immigration and identity issues, and shedding light on the complexities of these pressing topics.
One of his previous documentaries, "Exit - the right to die", garnered widespread recognition and acclaim, including several prestigious international awards, including the coveted Golden Link UER Award for the best European co-production and the 2006 Swiss Cinema Award.
Additionally, he has emerged as a winner of the Swiss Romandy Television's script competition, a testament to his exceptional storytelling abilities and innovative approach to filmmaking.
Currently, he is busy preparing his first fiction film, "Far Behind the Mountain", a project that promises to be a significant milestone in his career.
Throughout his journey, he has maintained a strong connection to his home base in Lausanne, where he resides and continues to work on his craft, pushing the boundaries of cinematic storytelling and leaving a lasting impact on the world of filmmaking.
