Fernando Alonso is a Spanish professional racing driver who has had a highly successful career in Formula One. He began his career with Minardi in 2001, where he impressed with his giant-killing performances, including a pole position and a win at the Hungarian Grand Prix. He then moved to Renault, where he won two World Drivers' Championships in 2005 and 2006.
Alonso's success at Renault was marked by his ability to refine his skills and adapt to different cars. He won seven Grands Prix in 2005 and cemented his position as a top driver in the sport. He also became the youngest-ever double World Champion in 2006.
In 2007, Alonso moved to McLaren, where he won his second race and quickly established the team as a major force in the sport. He won four Grands Prix in 2007, but was ultimately beaten to the World Championship by Kimi Raikkonen.
Alonso left McLaren in 2009 and joined Ferrari, where he won his first race in a red car at the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix. He went on to win three more Grands Prix in 2012, but was ultimately beaten to the World Championship by Sebastian Vettel.
After a dip in form at Ferrari, Alonso moved to McLaren-Honda in 2015, where he spent three seasons before taking a two-year sabbatical. He returned to the sport in 2021 with Alpine, where he scored his first podium in seven years at the Qatar Grand Prix. He then moved to Aston Martin in 2023, where he has seen great success, including a record-breaking 100th podium finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Throughout his career, Alonso has won 32 Grands Prix, earned 22 pole positions, and scored 2267 points from 377 starts. He is the only Spanish Formula One driver to have won the World Championship and has also won the Race of Champions Nations Cup with Team Spain.
