Francisco Lorite, a talented individual from Spain, began his journey in the film industry at the tender age of 14, when he wrote and directed his first film. Six years later, he made the bold move to the United States, where he immersed himself in the English language by devouring books, watching a plethora of films, and indulging in a vast array of television shows.
During his time in New York City, Lorite honed his acting skills by appearing in Off-Broadway plays, indie films, and an assortment of car commercials. He also became a valued member of the Shakespeare Lab at the esteemed Joseph Papp Public Theatre.
Lorite's creative endeavors did not go unnoticed, as his no-budget, no-crew short film, CUCO GOMEZ-GOMEZ IS DEAD!, garnered an impressive five Best-of awards, including the prestigious Imagen Award for Best Theatrical Short Film. This success led to a plethora of writing assignments, directing opportunities, and the development of his own original material.
Influenced by his childhood fascination with character-driven genre films and his personal life experiences, Lorite's work often draws from his own life. A prime example of this is his script, RANDOM, which is a fictionalized account of a random stabbing that almost cost him his life while he was attending college in Boston.
MEDIATION, an award-winning short film written and directed by Lorite, tells the story of a divorce mediation that spirals out of control. The film boasts an impressive cast, featuring Freddy Rodriguez and Marley Shelton. Following an extremely successful festival run, the film has been licensed for broadcast in the United States and over a dozen other countries.
Lorite's most recent projects include writing and directing an action-comedy TV pilot for Disney, developing a network TV series, and preparing to direct a character-driven action feature film, THE CHEERLEADER AND THE HITMAN.
Throughout his career, Lorite has been featured on various platforms, including NBC's "Today in NY" and Univision's "Despierta America." His work as a writer-director has been profiled in numerous publications, including Screen International, Hollywood Scriptwriter Magazine, BACK STAGE Action Magazine, The South China Morning Post, BC Magazine, Hispanic Magazine, Spanix.com, LatinoLa.com, and Latin Heat, among many others.
