Francisco Lupini is a Venezuelan filmmaker with a strong presence in New York City. He has garnered widespread recognition for his outstanding work, including being named the best emerging Latino Filmmaker on the East Coast by the Director's Guild of America for his short film El nido vacío in 2012.
Over the course of the past eight years, Lupini's films have earned him an impressive eighty official festival selections worldwide. His films have garnered multiple audience awards at prominent festivals, including the Chicago Latino Film Festival, Palm Springs International Short Fest, and Costa Rica Film Festival.
Lupini has received numerous accolades for his work, including the prestigious Golden Palm Award at the Mexico International Film Festival, Best Short Film at the Columbus International Film & Video Festival, and a special mention for Best Drama at the Trieste Festival of Latin American Cinema.
His films often feature complex female protagonists and explore themes related to family dynamics, human obsessions, and the pursuit of truth. In 2019, Lupini released his debut feature film ¡He matado a mi marido! (2018),which received a nomination for Best Picture in the Imagen Awards.
Francisco Lupini holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and TV Production as well as Dramatic Literature from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
