Biography

After completing her high school education, she embarked on a journey to hone her skills in German and English by studying in Berlin. As fate would have it, she followed in the footsteps of her father, renowned actor Rainer Pigulla, and pursued acting lessons in the same city. Upon graduating in 1988, she furthered her acting education in London, where she also had the opportunity to speak for the BBC's German radio program. In 1990, she made her screen debut in the film Dr. M, directed by the acclaimed Claude Chabrol. Subsequently, she worked primarily as a voiceover artist for various television and radio stations, becoming particularly well-known as a presenter for the news channel n-tv in the mid-1990s.

In addition to her work as a voiceover artist, Pigulla also gained recognition for dubbing the voices of several notable actresses, including Gillian Anderson, Demi Moore, Mercedes Ruehl, Téa Leoni, Sharon Stone, and Naomi Campbell. Her distinctive, very dark voice made her a sought-after talent in the industry. Furthermore, she lent her voice to the video game character Nicole "Nico" Collard in the Bane of Baphomet series and as a voice actor in Battle Isle: The Andosia Conflict.

As a seasoned voiceover artist, Pigulla was one of the prominent speakers for dubbing, commercials (such as Duckstein),television reports (like Galileo, Files - Reporters Fight for You, and Autopsy - Mysterious Deaths),and audio book productions. Alongside her colleague Benjamin Völz, she also made guest appearances on four albums by the Schiller music project.

Pigulla's extensive portfolio also includes voice acting in radio play series, such as Ghostbusters John Sinclair, and key speaking roles in audio books like The Bloodline and The Artist of Death by Cody McFadyen. She was also the speaker for the audio books of various novels by Ken Follett, including Eisfieber, which she narrated and received a gold award in the audio book award. Her voice was also featured in the documentary 9/11 Mysteries - The Destruction of the World Trade Center. Moreover, she could be heard as Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier in the television series Hannibal.

Tragically, in September 2018, it was announced that Franziska Pigulla would be unable to speak as a voiceover artist due to illness. She passed away on February 23, 2019, at the age of 54, in Berlin. Her funeral took place on March 12, 2019, at the Heerstraße cemetery in Berlin-Westend.
