Biography

Fred Carpenter's journey began at Nassau Community College, where he earned an Associate Degree in Science with a major in chemistry. His academic achievements earned him membership in the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity of Junior Colleges.

After completing his associate's degree, Fred attended Stony Brook University, pursuing a major in science with aspirations to become a medical doctor. During his time at Stony Brook, he volunteered at Flushing Hospital in New York City, where he gained valuable experience and received excellent letters of recommendation.

However, his experiences at the hospital led Fred to re-evaluate his career goals. He decided to leave the medical profession and pursue his true passion: becoming a motion picture producer and director. As a child, Fred had already begun producing and directing movies using an early Kodak 16 millimeter camera.

Fred's academic path took a new turn when he changed his major from science to liberal arts at Stony Brook University. Shortly after graduation, he landed a job at United Artists in sales, where he worked at night tracking the box office performance of United Artists and MGM movies across the United States and Canada.

A few years later, Fred was hired by Paramount Pictures' publicity department, where he worked under the guidance of Tamara Rawitt, producer of the hit TV show In Living Color, and Michael Berman. During his time at Paramount, Fred had the opportunity to work with notable movie stars such as Sylvester Stallone, John Travolta, Warren Beatty, Diane Keaton, the cast of Star Trek, and director James Toback.

For Fred, his time at Paramount served as a postgraduate film education, laying the foundation for his future success in the industry. As of 2014, he has produced and directed twenty independent movies, including Just Like Joe, The Night Never Sleeps, Send No Flowers, Charlie Mantle, Murdered Innocence, and Jesse, which won awards at various film festivals.

Fred's films have secured distribution deals with prominent studios such as Showtime, The Movie Channel, Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, HBO, Multicom Entertainment, Arch Entertainment, and Tauras United Artist Entertainment. He has worked with a talented pool of actors, including Gary Burghoff, Donnie Kehr, Jason Miller, Armand Assante, Sean Young, Eric Roberts, William Forsythe, Michael Wright, Tony Lobianco, Robert Clohessy, Wings Hauser, Paul Regina, Gianni Russo, Joan Roberts, Mitchell Walters, Jackie Martling, Craig Mack, and Ellen Green.

Fred has also played a pivotal role in launching the careers of directors Frank Coraci and television writer and director Rob Fresco, providing them with their first opportunity to direct a feature film.
