Biography

Frédéric Choffat, a filmmaker and photographer of dual Swiss and French nationality, has been collaborating with Julie Gilbert since 1997 on a variety of projects. Together, they co-create photography, radio, and film projects, showcasing their artistic talents.

Choffat's first feature film, "The Real Life Is Elsewhere" (2006),garnered international attention, with invitations to festivals worldwide. His sophomore effort, "Mangrove" (2011),was showcased at the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival and took home several awards, including the Best Independent Film Award at the CinegearExpo in Los Angeles and the Panavision New Filmmaker Program Award for Cinematography.

In addition to his feature films, Choffat has also worked on contemporary operas and has directed numerous short films and documentaries. His impressive body of work has not gone unnoticed, as he received the Louise Weiss Award from the Association of European Journalists in 2016.

Choffat's latest feature film, "My Little One" (2019),marks a new milestone in his career. Filmed entirely in Arizona, within the Navajo Nation, the movie features an all-star cast, including Anna Mouglalis, Mathieu Demy, Vincent Bonillo, and Ruby Matenko.
