Person biography:
Marty Jannetty, also known as "The Other Rocker", was a renowned high-flying wrestler who gained notoriety as one half of the "Midnight Rockers" alongside Shawn Michaels in the old AWA federation in the mid-1980s. They became known for their tag-team specialties and won the AWA Tag Team Titles on two separate occasions before moving to the WWF in 1988.
As "The Rockers", Marty and Shawn engaged in a feud with The Brainbusters, wrestling in some amazing tag-team matches around the country. The Rockers spent the next three years as one of the most popular tag teams in the world, showcasing their size and speed with a wide array of high-flying maneuvers and incredible tag-team moves.
Despite their incredible talent, the WWF was reluctant to give them a run with the Tag Team Titles, as owner Vince McMahon was a fan of "bigger is better". The Rockers did win the WWF Tag Team Titles from the Hart Foundation in 1990, but the win was never acknowledged again.
By the fall of 1991, tensions between Marty and Shawn became obvious to audiences, culminating in a shocking moment at Survivor Series 1991 when Michaels turned on Jannetty, nailing him with a superkick and throwing him through a window.
Marty Jannetty continued to wrestle for the WWF, returning to the tag-team ranks in 1994 and teaming up with the 1-2-3 Kid to win the Tag Team Titles from The Quebecers. He continued to wrestle for the WWF for several more years, although he never achieved the fame that he had earlier in his career.
