Gabriel Clarke is a multifaceted individual, serving as a co-founder of Noah Media Group, a journalist, writer, and director. With a notable track record, Clarke has garnered recognition for his work in documentary filmmaking, earning the Royal Television Society Sports News Reporter of the Year award on three occasions.
Clarke's journey in documentary filmmaking began at ITV in the UK, where he started to specialize in this genre. His notable works include the Grierson-nominated documentary Clough (2009) and the acclaimed boxing film The Fight Of Their Lives (2011),which received a BAFTA nomination for single documentary in 2012.
In 2015, Clarke's feature documentary, Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans, was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, marking the beginning of Noah Media Group alongside producer John McKenna and Executive Producer Barry Smith.
In 2017, Clarke collaborated with Noah Media Group co-founder Torquil Jones to write and direct Bobby Robson: More Than A Manager (Netflix),a poignant portrait of the legendary English football manager. This documentary won the Sports Journalists Association Documentary of the Year award.
Clarke's subsequent film, Finding Jack Charlton (BBC/Virgin Media Ireland),released in 2020, received widespread recognition from various organizations, including IFTA, BIFA, Grierson, and the SJA. The film won the prestigious Documentary of the Year award at the Broadcast Awards 2021 and the Editors' Choice award at the Broadcast Sports Awards.
The success of Finding Jack Charlton was followed by Clarke's work on Arsène Wenger: Invincible (Amazon/Canal+),which was released by Noah Media Group in 2021 and won the Best Documentary prize at the Venice TV Awards 2022.
Clarke was also involved in the Emmy-nominated documentary 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible (Netflix, 2021),and co-wrote and created the TV series South Of The River (BT Sport/ITV/Netflix, 2021). He is currently working on Villeneuve Pironi (Sky/NBC Universal),set for release in 2022/23.
