Gaetano Kazuo Maida is a multifaceted film producer and programmer with a rich background in international film festivals. Born and raised in New York City, he made the move to California in 1990, where he has since been an integral part of the state's thriving film and publishing industries.
In addition to his work in film, Maida has also been actively involved in book and magazine publishing on both the East and West coasts. His impressive portfolio spans multiple mediums, showcasing his versatility and dedication to storytelling.
As the executive director of the non-profit Buddhist Film Foundation (BFF),Maida plays a crucial role in promoting the International Buddhist Film Festival (IBFF),which has been successfully presented in ten cities across three continents since its inception in 2000. The BFF has also served as a fiscal sponsor for over two dozen film projects, including the critically acclaimed HBO drama The Tale (2018) and the AFI Grand Jury Prize winner Buddha's Lost Children (2006).
Currently, Maida is working on a documentary series exploring the contemporary Buddhist and mindfulness landscape. This exciting new project further solidifies his position as a leading figure in the world of Buddhist cinema and beyond.
