Garrett Batty is a renowned independent film producer and director, primarily recognized for his contributions to faith-based content. In 2013, he wrote, produced, directed, and edited the critically acclaimed thriller, The Saratov Approach, which tells the gripping story of two American missionaries who were kidnapped in Russia. This award-winning film, which grossed a respectable 2.1 million at the domestic box office, catapulted Batty to the forefront of the indie film scene, solidifying his reputation as a director to watch.
Fast forward to 2015, Batty wrote, produced, directed, and edited Freetown, a film shot entirely in Africa, which received both domestic and international theatrical releases. This cinematic masterpiece earned a staggering 11 nominations at the Ghana Film Awards, which is Ghana's equivalent to the Academy Awards. Batty's impressive portfolio has since expanded to include producing and directing pilots for See the Good (BYUtv),Let's Get Epic (VidAngel),and directing the feature-length Vietnam documentary, The Journey Home, starring the renowned actor Jon Voight, produced by Go Films.
In addition to his work in the film industry, Batty has also produced and directed several successful commercial campaigns, including "Stories of Change" for Mitsubishi Electric and "Meet the Missionaries" for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Furthermore, in 2019, Batty wrote, directed, and edited the period western, Out of Liberty, which was distributed by Samuel Goldwyn Films.
Throughout his illustrious career, Batty has had the privilege of working in over 30 countries, but he prefers to work from home, allowing him to be near his loving wife and their four children.
