Gary Hurst, a talented actor and dancer, had the privilege of collaborating with Kate on both video and live performances. His passion for dance began in 1975, and he went on to pursue higher education at a prestigious institution in Rotterdam, Holland, where he earned a scholarship. He then joined the esteemed troupe, Moving Being, and embarked on a tour before continuing his studies in Sweden and France.
Gary's remarkable journey took him to the 1979 Tour Of Life, where he worked alongside choreographer Anthony Van Laast, becoming an integral part of Kate's creative team. He formed a close bond with Kate and her regular dance partner, Stewart Avon-Arnold, and later co-founded the Dance Theatre Of London with him.
Gary's contributions to Kate's music went beyond his impressive dance skills. He lent his voice to backing vocals on the tracks "Babooshka" and "All We Ever Look For." His presence can be seen in the iconic videos "Live at the Hammersmith Odeon" and the "Kate Christmas Special." Gary also joined Kate and Douglas McNicol for television appearances, promoting the 1982 single "The Dreaming" in both the UK and abroad.
Tragically, Gary Hurst passed away in 1990 due to complications related to AIDS in Westminster, London, England. Kate paid tribute to her dear friend in the song "Moments Of Pleasure," affectionately referring to him as "Bubba."
