Person Biography:
Sabaugh is an American professional wrestler, also known as The Italian Stallion, who has had a successful career in North American independent promotions, including stints in the World Wrestling Federation and National Wrestling Alliance. He is co-owner of the Professional Wrestling Federation and its wrestling school with his longtime rival George South.
Early Career:
Sabaugh began his career in the 1980s and 1990s, competing in various independent promotions, including Jim Crockett Promotions and World Championship Wrestling. He was known for his intense matches and rivalries, including a decade-long feud with George South.
Professional Wrestling Federation:
In 1990, Sabaugh co-founded the Professional Wrestling Federation with George South. The promotion ran shows in the old Crockett territories in North and South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia until its closure in 1999. During this time, Sabaugh and South traded the PWF heavyweight title several times and formed a tag team, winning the tag team titles before they began fighting each other again.
World Championship Wrestling:
Sabaugh also worked for World Championship Wrestling, making appearances on WCW Power Hour and competing for the World Tag Team Championship and Television Championship. His last appearance for WCW was in 1993.
World Wrestling Federation:
Sabaugh also wrestled for the World Wrestling Federation during the mid-1990s, helping a young Matt and Jeff Hardy break into the WWF as jobbers. However, he was released from the company after leaving the Hardy's stranded in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Later Career:
Sabaugh's last match was a successful defense of the PWF Heavyweight title against George South on March 29, 1997, at The Armory in Greer, South Carolina.
