Gavin Friday, a multifaceted creative individual, was born in Dublin, Ireland in the month of October 1959. As the founder member of the renowned Irish band, The Virgin Prunes, he left an indelible mark on the music scene.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Friday is also a talented painter, and his debut exhibition, "I Didn't Come Up The Liffey in a Bubble," took place in 1988. This marked the beginning of his foray into the world of visual art.
Since 1985, Friday has collaborated with his longtime musical partner, Maurice Seezer, on a variety of projects. Together, they have composed and performed music in a live setting, initially through their "cabaret club" venture, The Blue Jaysus, in Dublin. This partnership eventually led to them being signed to Island Records in 1988.
Friday and Seezer have released several studio albums, including "Each Man Kills the Thing He Loves" and "Adam'n'Eve." In 2002, they performed a tribute to Kurt Weill, "Ich Liebe Dich," at the Dublin Theatre Festival, accompanied by the Friday/Seezer ensemble.
