George Luis Contreras, the eighth of nine siblings, was born in East Los Angeles, a place that would shape the early years of his life. His father, Cruz Contreras, had migrated to the United States from a small ranch in Sianore de Topia, Durango, Mexico in 1969, seeking a better life, a chance to grasp the elusive American dream. Shortly after, his mother, Florina Contreras de Martinez, joined Cruz in East LA, and the family began their new life together.
George's childhood was spent in East LA, surrounded by the vibrant culture and energy of the city. However, his family's journey took them to West Covina in 1988, when George was around the age when he would start school. He enrolled at Merced Elementary school and spent the next several years growing up in the community.
As he entered high school, George attended West Covina High school, graduating in 2000. His educational journey continued at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, where he earned his Associate's degree. During his time at Mt. Sac, George began his career as a fashion model, which would eventually lead him to pursue acting as a profession.
After completing his transfer requirements and obtaining his AA degree, George took a break from school and enrolled in a Conservatory for Acting in Santa Monica, California. For two years, he studied under the guidance of Laura Henry, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience. After completing his studies, George continued to attend classes, seeking out new teachers and mentors to learn from.
