Gordon Winter, a Londoner, was the lead singer of the post-punk bands English Subtitles, Gorp, and Kill Ugly Pop in his twenties. These bands released vinyl LP and EP records, and toured extensively, solidifying their reputation in the music scene.
During this time, Gordon also founded the influential Beet Bop Club in London, which served as a hub for the burgeoning new jazz bohemia and provided a platform for Gorp and other like-minded musicians to perform.
As he entered his thirties, Gordon transitioned into acting, appearing in over 100 international TV commercials, including the iconic Guinness "Dancing Man" campaign and an Amex commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld. His TV commercial showreel, "Gordon Winter TV Commercials," is available to view on YouTube.
Gordon's acting career continued to flourish, with roles in the UK tour of Hull Truck's "Bouncers" as "Lucky Eric," as well as appearances in the West End with the legendary Rudolf Nureyev. He also appeared in Mike Leigh's Cannes-winning feature film "Secrets and Lies" and had recurring roles in TV series such as "Frank Stubbs," "South by South East," and "Fantastic Facts." Additionally, he appeared in the final episode of the popular TV series "Minder."
In the 1990s, Gordon founded the legendary live swing jazz cabaret, The Kroon Kat Lounge, which ran for over a decade and became a beloved institution in London's entertainment scene.
In recent years, Gordon has continued to work in television, appearing alongside Olivia Colman in the BBC2 drama "The Thirteenth Tale," starring Vanessa Redgrave. He is also set to appear in the feature films "Fraternity" and "The Honourable Rebel."
