Guido Quaroni started his illustrious career at Pixar Animation Studios in January 1997, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey that would span over two decades. Initially, he worked in modeling, rigging, and shading for the highly acclaimed film "Toy Story 2" for a period of two years, before transitioning to work on effects for the same film. His impressive work on "Toy Story 2" paved the way for his subsequent role as sequence supervisor in the shots department for the 2001 film "Monsters, Inc.". Quaroni's expertise in hair and effects technology played a crucial role in the film's success.
In his subsequent role, Quaroni led the Software Research and Development team, overseeing the development of the asset/shading pipeline and later, the Production Engineering team. His leadership and technical expertise were instrumental in shaping the production pipeline and managing the various technical teams.
In January 2007, Quaroni took on the role of supervising technical director for the Academy Award-winning feature film "Toy Story 3". As the supervising technical director, he was responsible for defining the various technologies used in the film, establishing the production pipeline, and managing the various technical teams. Quaroni's exceptional skills and leadership played a significant role in the film's success, earning him a reputation as a master of his craft.
In addition to his technical expertise, Quaroni has also demonstrated his vocal talents, lending his voice to the character of Guido, the Italian forklift, in the Golden Globe-winning film "Cars". He reprised his role as Guido in both "Cars 2" in 2011 and "Cars 3" in 2017, showcasing his versatility and range as a voice actor.
Quaroni's passion for computers, engineering, graphics, and animation began at a young age, and he has always dreamed of working at Pixar. Prior to joining Pixar, he worked for a software house in Italy, specializing in graphics and visualization applications running on NeXT computers. Quaroni's journey to Pixar began when he saw the short film "Luxo, Jr.", which sparked his desire to join the renowned animation studio.
Born and raised in Italy, Quaroni did his studies in Milan and later moved to Vicenza, a town close to Venice, in 1993. His journey to Pixar was a long and winding one, filled with challenges and opportunities. In May 2011, Quaroni was promoted to Vice President of Software R&D, overseeing the studio's graphics and animation software, including the Academy Award-winning animation software "Presto".
