Guy Ecker is a renowned Latin American actor who has earned numerous accolades throughout his illustrious career. He is one of Latin America's most beautiful people, as recognized by People magazine (Latin Edition) for the third time.
Ecker's impressive resume boasts two "Best Leading Actor" awards and two people's choice awards. He has starred in several notable projects, including the telenovela "Eva Luna," which reached an audience of 9.7 million during its grand finale and became one of the most globally tweeted events during its final televised episode. He also co-starred in the internet series "Vidas Cruzadas" for Univision, which garnered 2.5 million views and became the second most-watched project in the network's history.
In addition to his success in the Hispanic market, Ecker's fluency in English allowed him to cross over to the U.S. where he was cast for two seasons on NBC's "Las Vegas" and co-starred in films like "Only the Brave" alongside Jeff Fehey and "Malevolent" with Lou Diamond Phillips.
Born in Brazil, Ecker was raised in four different Latin American countries and is fluent in three languages. After graduating high school in Rio de Janeiro, he moved to the U.S. to attend the University of Texas in Austin. During his time at the university, he taught English classes, ballroom dancing, trained horses, and ran his own translation and dubbing company before landing his first lead role in an independent film.
Ecker's early success led him to accept an acting job in South America, where he was given the lead role in the telenovela "Café con aroma de mujer." The show's overwhelming success opened the door to an international market, allowing RCN Television to export a telenovela for the first time. He went on to sign a contract with Televisa in Mexico City, starring in novelas like "La Mentira," "Salome," and "Heridas de Amor," which all achieved the highest ratings in Latin American history, selling to over 90 countries and exceeding the ratings of American prime time programming when aired on Univision.
Throughout his career, Ecker has received numerous honors, including being featured on Cristina Saralegui's (the Hispanic Oprah) show and being the first male celebrity to be featured on the cover of "Cristina" magazine. The father's day issue featuring Guy with his 10-month-old son sold out shortly after hitting stands, forcing the magazine to print a second run.
