Barbarella Catton, a renowned Canadian-American actress, made her theatrical film debut in the sexploitation classic Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965),starring alongside Russ Meyer. Born on January 24, 1946, in Quebec City, Quebec, Catton began dancing topless at the age of 14, catching the attention of cinema's "King Leer" while performing as an exotic dancer.
Renamed Haji, she was cast by Meyer as one of three go-go dancers who transform into avenging furies in Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965). Prior to this, she made her film debut in Motorpsycho! (1965),which was technically released before Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965).
Haji continued to work with Meyer on several projects, including the potboiler Good Morning... and Goodbye! (1967),the big-budget Hollywood sextravaganza Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970),and the cartoonish amalgamation of sex and violence, Supervixens (1975).
Haji passed away on August 10, 2013, at the age of 67, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering sexploitation actress.
