Heather Craney was born in 1971 in Stapleford, Cambridgeshire, and even at a young age, she showcased her talents as a notable Buttons in the primary school production of 'Cinderella'.
The family relocated to Darlington in the 1980s, where her father's work necessitated the move, and Heather became a regular at the local arts and drama centre, further nurturing her passion for the performing arts.
Upon returning to Cambridgeshire, Heather left Long Road Sixth Form College to pursue her academic interests in English and Drama at Liverpool Hope University, graduating in 1992.
Her academic achievements were followed by a three-year course at London's Central School of Speech and Drama, which she completed in 1995.
Heather's first professional theatrical job was at the Orange Tree, Richmond, in the production of 'Death of an Elephant', and she has since had the privilege of appearing at esteemed institutions such as the Royal Court and Donmar Warehouse.
Notably, Heather received a BAFTA nomination for her supporting role as the social-climbing sister-in-law in Mike Leigh's 'Vera Drake', and she has also secured an ongoing role as the woman next door in the sitcom 'Life of Riley'.
