Biography

Heather Fink, a multifaceted creative individual, entered the realm of filmmaking after honing her comedic skills. Born and raised in a small town in New Jersey, she was influenced by her diverse family background, consisting of a Dutch mother, Jewish American father, a grandmother struggling with schizophrenia, and an older sister.

Fink's early interest in comedy led her to form an all-female improv, sketch, and video comedy group in college. This experience eventually transitioned into performing stand-up comedy in New York City in 2005, while continuing to create humorous content, blog, and engage in comedy performances.

As her online presence grew, she produced several viral comedy videos, which ultimately led her to pursue a career in filmmaking. In 2009, she enrolled in the New York University's Graduate Film program as a Writer/Director. To support herself, Fink worked as a Sound Person for film and television, including Marvel's "Daredevil" and Hulu's "The Dropout."

Before pursuing her passion for filmmaking, Fink held various jobs, such as PR for a gay porn company, an intern for Senator Kennedy, and a Content Strategist for digital media companies. Her educational background includes a Philosophy degree from The George Washington University and a year of law school.

Fink has directed over 35 comedy shorts, including Sara Benincasa's "The Focus Group," which received widespread recognition on Hello Giggles, The Onion, Huffington Post, Refinery 29, and more. Her participation in the 2016 Sony Pictures Television Diverse Directors Program and shadowing Emmy-nominated Director Kate Dennis on an episode of "The Tick" further solidified her experience.

In addition to her work in comedy, Fink has also directed the indie TV pilot "Urban Teach Now" for writer/producers SJ & Ginny, which was an official selection at the NYTV Fest and ITV Fest in October 2016. Her first feature film as writer/director, "Inside You," was released on Amazon Prime in October 2017.

Fink's continued success led her to return to sketch comedy, directing comedy shorts for College Humor in 2018. She also directed "Sosi," a short film for UCB's Mark Sarian & Ari Voukydis in 2019. During the lockdown in 2020, Fink focused on developing original TV and film screenplays.

In 2021, she directed "Banfield After Party," a branded content comedy web-series featuring celebrity pets. Her short film "Quiche" premiered at the Lighthouse Film Festival in 2022.

Throughout her career, Fink has worked with top comedic talents, including Hannibal Buress, Griffin Newman, Tawny Cypress, Himanshu Suri, Zach Cregger, Angela Trimbur, Will Hines, Kevin Allison, Sara Benincasa, Will Janowitz, Curtis Gwinn, Bobby Tisdale, Slovin and Allen, and Ann Carr.
