Her life took a significant turn in 1979 when she met Rolland Baker, a descendant of the renowned missionary H. A. Baker. Six months later, in 1980, they tied the knot, and just two weeks after that, they embarked on the mission field, their journey together having only just begun. In 1985, they were formally ordained as ministers, marking a pivotal moment in their lives.
In 1980, Heidi and Rolland founded Iris Global, a non-profit Christian ministry dedicated to charitable service and evangelism, with a particular focus on developing nations. This marked the beginning of their remarkable work together, which would span decades.
Fast forward to 1995, the Bakers made the bold decision to relocate to Mozambique, with the aim of establishing a new ministry focused on the care and support of orphaned and abandoned children.
