Noted musician and bandleader, Herb Alpert, catapulted to fame in the 1960s with his iconic ensemble, Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. Their initial massive hit, "The Lonely Bull," released in 1963, marked the beginning of a streak of success, which continued with subsequent chart-toppers such as "Tijuana Taxi," "Spanish Flea," also famously known as the theme song of the popular television program "The Dating Game," "A Taste of Honey," and "Zorba the Greek." However, it wasn't until Alpert experimented with his vocal abilities that he finally reached the pinnacle of success, claiming the #1 spot on the Billboard charts with the soulful ballad "This Guy's in Love With You" in 1968.
Following the disbandment of The Tijuana Brass, Alpert temporarily retreated from the public eye until his remarkable comeback album, Rise, debuted in 1979. This album produced his first instrumental #1 hit, "Rise," and marked a triumphant return to the music scene. Although Alpert's subsequent endeavors did not quite match the same level of success, he remained relatively quiet until his resurgence in 1987 with a fresh, modern take on jazz and funk, as showcased on the album "Keep Your Eye on Me."
