Herbert F. Solow is a multifaceted entertainment professional with a career spanning multiple decades and various roles, including Producer, Writer, Director, Executive, and Studio Head.
Formerly, Solow held executive positions at several prominent entertainment companies, including MGM, Paramount Pictures Television, Desilu Studios, and Hanna-Barbara. He also served as Executive/Director of Daytime Programs for both NBC and CBS, and as Head of Programming and Production for the NBC Film Division.
As a theatrical agent, Solow represented film producers, directors, and writers at the William Morris Agency.
Throughout his career, Solow has collaborated with renowned directors such as David Lean, Robert Altman, Herb Ross, Blake Edwards, Paul Mazursky, Roger Vadim, Michelangelo Antonioni, Burt Kennedy, James Goldstone, and Richard Longcraine, among many others.
As the sole authority on several iconic television series, including Star Trek, Mission:Impossible, Mannix, Medical Center, Courtship of Eddie's Father, Then Came Bronson, and Man From Atlantis, Solow is also the author of two highly acclaimed books: Inside Star Trek: the Real Story (Simon & Schuster, 1996) and The Star Trek Sketchbook (Simon & Schuster, 1997).
Solow is a member of the Writers' Guild of America, the Directors' Guild of America, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He has served on various Academy Award Nominating Committees, including Foreign Film, Documentary Feature, and Special Effects.
