Person Biography:
Holland Roden, a talented up-and-coming actress, has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with notable roles on popular television shows such as Lost, Weeds, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She currently stars as Lydia Martin in MTV's hit series Teen Wolf, a role that she describes as a mix of Tracy Flick's intelligence and Violet Beauregarde's spunk.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Holland developed a passion for the arts at a young age. She would put on one-woman plays for her family, emulating her favorite royal, the Queen of England, at just six years old. Her love for performing only grew stronger as she enrolled in theatre camps and acting classes.
However, it was her interest in science that brought her to Los Angeles and jump-started her career. Holland enrolled at UCLA as a molecular biology major, but after one year, she realized that her true passion lay in acting. Within two months of hiring an agent, she landed her first big break with a recurring role on HBO's 12 Miles of Bad Road.
Despite experiencing the highs and lows of the entertainment industry, including the cancellation of her show before its premiere, Holland persevered and went on to book guest starring appearances on shows such as The Event, Cold Case, Community, and Criminal Minds. She also landed a lead role in the cult classic franchise Bring It on: Fight to the Finish.
During her hiatus from Teen Wolf, Holland took time out to shoot a guest star episode on ABC's Grey's Anatomy and a leading role in an independent horror flick titled House of Dust, which is currently in post-production.
In addition to her acting career, Holland remained dedicated to her education as a full-time student. However, due to her busy work schedule, she was forced to switch majors, leaving her love for science behind and majoring in women studies. She received her degree from UCLA.
In her free time, Holland enjoys exploring the world of music, discovering new indie artists, and listening to her favorite bands, including Ingrid Michaelson, Josh Rouse, Cat Stevens, Mumford & Sons, and Crash Kings.
