Ian Jerrold Bernard, a multifaceted individual, was most notably recognized for his remarkable work as the musical director of the hugely popular 1968-1973 television comedy program, "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In".
Born on July 17, 1930, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Bernard's early life was marked by a strong passion for music. As a young teenager, he made appearances in three films, albeit in minor roles. However, his true calling was music, and he dedicated himself to honing his skills as a musician.
Throughout his career, Bernard had the privilege of working with numerous renowned artists, including the iconic Rosemary Clooney. He not only played piano for her but also arranged and produced albums for other notable singers, such as Vic Damone and Dick Haymes.
In his later years, Bernard remained actively involved in the music industry, serving as a member and even president of the Santa Barbara Jazz Society. This esteemed organization stages an impressive 10 shows annually, and Bernard was instrumental in producing many of its shows during the early 2000s.
On a personal note, Bernard was married to his fourth wife, Penny Bernard, since 1967, and the two shared a long and loving relationship.
