Ian's journey in the film and photography industry began when he studied film and photography at Art School. Following his education, he relocated to Manchester and secured a job at Carlton Studios, where he spent three years honing his skills.
His next venture was as a studio photographer for a prominent advertising agency, where he worked on various projects. In the late 1980s, Ian took the bold step of setting up his own studio, specializing in fashion and still-life photography, and took on assignments around the world.
In the late 1990s, Ian established Biffa Production Company, which allowed him to pursue his passion for directing and producing. He worked on numerous projects, including pop videos, advertisements, and short films. During this period, he also produced a spec TV series titled "Actors," which garnered significant interest from the BBC and Paramount Comedy Channel.
Fast-forward to 2010, Ian's production company completed the black comedy feature film "Rebels Without A Clue." The film received critical acclaim, winning three awards at the Ibiza International Film Festival: Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack, and Best Supporting Actor. Ian, credited under the alias Ivan D Rennov, received the award for Best Cinematography from none other than Oscar-winning Cinematographer Ronnie Taylor. "Rebels" was also nominated for Best UK Feature at the Raindance Film Festival in London.
Ian's second feature film, "Best Little Whorehouse in Rochdale," was met with widespread acclaim, winning the Audience Choice Award at the Palm Beach Film Festival, Best Foreign Feature at the San Diego International Film Festival, and Best Feature at the London Independent Film Festival.
Today, Ian splits his time between Los Angeles and the UK. When not directing or writing, he dedicates his time to teaching acting for camera under the pseudonym "Vernon Acting Method."
