María Ignacia Allamand Lyon is a talented Chilean actress who made her film debut in the movie Se Arrienda, showcasing her versatility as a performer. In addition to her acting career, she has also demonstrated her skills as a playwright by adapting Edmond and authoring The 80s, The Musical. Born to a family with a strong public service background, María is the daughter of former Chilean Minister of Defense and presidential candidate Andrés Allamand Zavala and Bárbara Lyon, a recognized figure in the Alter Ego Foundation.
Growing up, María spent part of her adolescence in Washington D.C. due to her father's work, before returning to Chile to pursue her passion for theater at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She also spent time studying acting in Buenos Aires, further honing her craft.
María's breakthrough as an actress came in 2005 with her role in Se Arrienda, directed by Alberto Fuguet. Two years later, she made her television debut in Vivir con 10, the first TV series from Chilevisión, earning her an APES Award in 2008 for her portrayal of teenager Eloísa Solé.
In her personal life, María married actor Tiago Correa on April 18, 2010, but the couple confirmed their separation by mutual agreement just a year later. In 2013, she was involved in her father's presidential campaign.
In 2014, María collaborated with her father on a new project, translating and adapting the play Edmond by renowned US playwright David Mamet. The following year, she wrote The 80s, The Musical, further solidifying her reputation as a talented playwright.
Since her television debut, María has continued to work almost exclusively with Chilevisión, while also maintaining a strong presence in the film industry. Her close friendship with director Nicolás López has led to her appearing in many of his films, including collaborations with Eli Roth.
