Biography

Margarete Ilse Köhler, a woman of significant notoriety, was born with a surname that would later undergo a transformation, as she would become Ilse Koch, the devoted wife of Karl-Otto Koch, a commanding figure within the Nazi regime. Her husband's roles as commandant of the notorious concentration camps Buchenwald, from 1937 to 1941, and Majdanek, from 1941 to 1943, left an indelible mark on the course of history.
