Person Biography:
Irina Maleeva is a renowned Bulgarian-Italian actress, singer, and activist. Born to a Bulgarian stage actress and an Italian aristocrat, she began her career as a child performer in Bulgaria. At 15, she was discovered by Federico Fellini and went on to appear in three of his films, including "Satyricon" and "Roma". She has also worked with iconic directors Luchino Visconti and Roberto Rossellini.
Maleeva has appeared in over 30 leading roles in European and American films, opposite notable actors such as James Mason, Susan Sarandon, and Klaus Kinski. She has also had a successful television career, starring in shows like "Days of our Lives", "The Gilmore Girls", and "Heroes".
As a singer, Maleeva has released a CD, "Illusions", and has performed in her own one-woman musical comedy shows around the world. She has also co-written and starred in the stage show "Illusions" at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles.
Maleeva is a dedicated activist, particularly in the fight to save elephants and rhinoceros through The Wildlife Trusts in Africa. She has been recognized for her contributions, including the SEEfest Life Achievement Award in 2017.
