New Zealand-born actress Issy Stewart's impressive career began at the tender age of eight when she took to the stage in a Butterfly Creek Theatre Troupe production of "Six Characters in Search of an Author", portraying the captivating role of The Girl. Her early start in the world of theatre paved the way for her swift transition into television, where she secured roles in some of New Zealand's most popular TV shows, including "Sensing Murder" and "Double Lives". Concurrently, she continued to hone her craft on stage, taking on the roles of Macduff's daughter in "Macbeth" and Cecily Cardew in "The Importance of Being Earnest".
Throughout her formative years, Issy was fortunate to be mentored by the renowned acting coach Miranda Harcourt, who has guided the careers of esteemed actors such as Nicole Kidman, Juliet Binoche, AnnaSophia Robb, and Dev Patel. Miranda describes Issy as a "sparky, instinctive actress with a good look", a testament to the young actress's natural talent and charisma.
As her career progressed, Issy took on a diverse range of roles in theatre productions, including Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet", Olivia in "Twelfth Night", and Squealer in a musical adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm". At the age of 17, she was cast as the lead role of Lizzie in a film adaptation of Christina Rossetti's poem "Goblin Market".
After completing her high school education, Issy auditioned for three prestigious acting schools, receiving callbacks for all of them. However, she ultimately decided to attend Prague Film School in the Czech Republic, where she spent two years honing her craft. During her time at the school, she signed with an agent and landed small roles in various productions, including "Genius" on National Geographic, "Ophelia", "The Romanoffs" on Amazon Prime Video, "Lore" on Amazon Prime, and Taika Waititi's "Jojo Rabbit". She also had the opportunity to take the stage as Lavinia in the Prague Shakespeare Company's production of "Titus Andronicus".
Issy's impressive resume continued to grow, with key roles in Amazon Prime's "Carnival Row", opposite Cara Delevingne and Orlando Bloom, and the lead role in the indie film "Playdurizm", slated for release in 2020. Following her time in Prague, Issy signed with agent Dan Ireson at The Narrow Road Company and relocated to London to further her acting career.
