Biography

Jake's snowboarding journey commenced in the picturesque state of Vermont, where he meticulously developed his skills at the renowned resorts of Bolton Valley and Stowe, steadily ascending the ranks of slopestyle and halfpipe competitions throughout his teenage years.

His most notable achievement came in the year 2004, when he emerged victorious in the prestigious U.S. Open, thereby catapulting him to international recognition at the tender age of 17. This groundbreaking victory served as a pivotal moment, as Jake relocated to the iconic Mammoth resort and subsequently to Tahoe, ultimately finding his west coast home in the charming town of Bellingham and the celebrated Mt. Baker, the deepest resort in the contiguous United States.

At Mt. Baker, Jake refined his skills in the backcountry, where an infinite array of lines and natural terrain inspired his creativity and imagination, allowing him to push the boundaries of his craft and continuously evolve as a snowboarder.

Jake's professional journey in the snowboarding world spanned over a decade, during which he worked closely with renowned snowboarding brands such as Forum, Absinthe, and Snowboarder Magazine, consistently delivering outstanding video parts that cemented his position as a true virtuoso of his craft.

Throughout this period, Jake's exceptional skills and creativity were consistently recognized and rewarded with prestigious awards, further solidifying his reputation as a master of snowboarding.

However, it was his solo film project, Naturally, that truly catapulted Jake to the very peak of his profession, earning him widespread recognition and acclaim as one of the most innovative and accomplished snowboarders on the planet.

Jake's journey eventually led him back to his hometown in Vermont, where he currently resides with his precious young daughter, Nell, and his loving wife, Kristin, a gifted and accomplished organic/holistic chef and restaurateur. When he's not busy with his daily activities, Jake makes time for his personal pursuits, including cultivating his own food, practicing yoga, and honing his skills in carpentry and soccer. In addition to his various hobbies, Jake and his wife, Kristin, have co-founded the Mountain Light Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free youth avalanche and backcountry education to children and young adults in partnership with the esteemed American Alpine Institute.
