James, a former professional football player for the Cleveland Browns and Ottawa Rough Riders, has always had a passion for the arts. During his two-year stint as a running back for the Browns, he pursued his passion for acting, playing a security specialist in the UPN drama "The Burning Zone".
James' extensive television credits include "Bones", "Navy: NCIS", "CSI: Miami", "All of Us", "Charmed", "Will and Grace", "Jag", "10-8", "Summerland", "Strong Medicine", and the HBO movies "Don King: Only in America" and "Criminal Intent". He has also lent his voice to the critically acclaimed claymation series "The PJ's" on the WB Network.
James' big screen credits include "Godzilla", "Out of Sight" with George Clooney, "Soldier" for Warner Brothers, and "Universal Soldier II". He has also had notable supporting roles in "Substitute III".
Recently, James has appeared in the CBS drama "Moonlight" as Lt. Carl Davis, the ABC Family drama "Lincoln Heights" as a crazed stalker, and the TNT critically acclaimed show "The Closer" as Lt. Xavier.
Beyond acting, James has a music degree from the University of Akron and has appeared in several musicals, including "Big River", for which he was nominated for a 2002 Ovation Award for best actor in a musical. He has also appeared in "Hair", "Dawn of the Infinite Dreams", "Sideshow", "Kismet", and "Sheba", as well as the play "A Raisin in the Sun". In 2003, James directed the John Patrick Shanley play "The Italian American Reconciliation" at the Whitmore Lindly Theater in North Hollywood and made his directorial debut with the feature film "Vault".
In his free time, James enjoys playing guitar, piano, practicing martial arts, singing, and snowboarding, among other activities.
