Biography

Noted American maestro, James Conlon, embarked upon a storied career in music direction, commencing with a momentous debut performance with the prestigious New York Philharmonic orchestra in the year 1974.

Noted virtuoso Conlon has had the extraordinary privilege of collaborating with a vast array of esteemed American and European symphony orchestras, thereby cementing his status as a preeminent maestro, renowned for his exceptional mastery of his art form.

Throughout his illustrious career, Conlon has occupied numerous prestigious roles, serving as the Music Director of the esteemed Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra from 1983 to 1991, a tenure marked by his profound impact on the organization.

Subsequently, he assumed the position of General Music Director of the City of Cologne, Germany, a role he held from 1989 to 2003, during which he contributed significantly to the cultural landscape of the region.

In 1995, Conlon became the Principal Conductor of the revered Paris Opera, a position he retained until 2004, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.
