James is currently recurring in the Starz hit drama BMF, and has recently co-starred in the feature thriller Werewolves alongside Frank Grillo. He has also appeared in Netflix's Yes Day with Jennifer Garner, and the HBO show Lovecraft County. His extensive list of credits includes guest starring roles in popular TV shows such as AMC's Preacher, CBS' Elementary, and FOX's Sleepy Hollow, as well as the Nickelodeon sitcom School of Rock.
Before his successful acting career, James trained in music, dance, and acting in Los Angeles. He began his training in a hip-hop group in college and later landed his first TV audition on CBS's JAG in 1995. James is a commissioned poet of the LA County of Arts and the founder of Music & Flow, an interactive live-music and creative-writing experience, and Chromatic, an experimental performance troupe that improvises a musical show.
In addition to his creative pursuits, James is an athlete and avid runner, having completed the LA Half Marathon for Good Neighbors and their Water for Life campaign.
