James Reiher, better known by his ring name Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, was a Fijian American professional wrestler with a storied career spanning several decades. From the 1970s to the 2010s, Snuka wrestled for various promotions, earning a reputation for his high-flying style, which he introduced to the WWE in the 1980s.
During his time in the WWE, Snuka was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1996, an honor that would later be revoked in 2015. This decision came after Snuka was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, in 1983. The case remained open for decades, with Snuka pleading not guilty and eventually being found unfit to stand trial in 2016 due to a diagnosis of dementia.
As his health continued to decline, the charges against Snuka were dismissed in 2017. Tragically, he passed away just twelve days later, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy in the world of professional wrestling. Snuka's children, Sim Snuka and Tamina Snuka, both followed in their father's footsteps, becoming professional wrestlers in their own right.
Before his passing, Snuka held multiple championships, including the ECW World Heavyweight Championship, which he won twice. He is remembered as a pioneer in the world of professional wrestling, known for his daring moves and unforgettable performances. Despite the controversy surrounding his personal life, Snuka's impact on the sport will be remembered for generations to come.
