James Robin Mayo's extensive portfolio includes a diverse range of music videos and short films, with one of his notable works being "Fib", which garnered 3rd place for Best Experimental Video at the 27th Gawad CCP Para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video. As a producer, Mayo was involved in the creation of "Kiko Boksingero", a feature film entry in the 2017 Cinemalaya festival, as well as "Anatomiyang Pag-ibig", a film adaptation of Allan Lopez's award-winning stage play.
Mayo's full-length debut film, "The Chanters", premiered at the QCinema International Film Festival in 2017, where it won the prestigious Best Screenplay and Best Actress awards. The film's success continued to unfold as it received multiple nominations at the 2018 Gawad Urian Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay, Best Music, and Best Sound. Furthermore, "The Chanters" was also nominated for Best Picture and Best Screenplay at the FAMAS Awards in 2018.
