James was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where he attended high school and had the opportunity to perform in plays alongside notable actors James Roday and founders of Open Plan Films, Jen Prince and Cody Shelton.
James furthered his education by attending college in Texas and Oklahoma on both academic and performance scholarships, where he studied acting and vocal performance.
After completing his studies, James moved to Boston to pursue a career in professional acting. He worked with renowned directors Robert Woodruff at the American Repertory Theatre and Nicholas Martin at the Huntington Theatre Company, which is now known as the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
Within a short span of two years, James was cast in twenty-five productions, working on a diverse range of projects, including film, television, commercials, plays, and industrials. He received critical acclaim for his lead role as Tom in the New England premiere of "Fat Pig" with the SpeakEasy Stage Company and has performed in over a dozen productions of Shakespeare.
James quickly found success in Los Angeles, booking his first audition for "NCIS" and went on to work in film, television, voiceovers, and stunts. One of his highlights was working with Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper in "American Sniper," where James and Bradley improvised a significant amount of their dialogue due to a malfunction Bradley experienced with his rifle.
James continued to hone his craft by working at the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival as a company member for five seasons, receiving critical acclaim for his roles in "Vietgone," "Beauty and the Beast," "Between Two Knees," and "Cambodian Rock Band," among others.
When not working, James can be found riding his motorcycle and enjoying the outdoors with his wife and children.
