Jamie Loy is an American actress renowned for her captivating performances in various film and television projects. Her breakout role as Elizabeth Canoe in the feature film The Cherokee Word for Water earned her SAG eligibility and marked the beginning of her successful acting career.
Born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Jamie is the second of three children to James and Annie Loy. Growing up in the countryside near many small towns and communities in northeastern Oklahoma, she developed a strong connection to her roots. Her passion for acting began when she took a summer theater job at the Cherokee Nation Heritage Center, starring in the theater show The Trail of Tears Drama. During the same summer, she had the opportunity to work on the historical documentary The Trail of Tears: Cherokee Legacy alongside James Earl Jones and Wes Studi.
Jamie's early career also included modeling jobs for Ihloff Salons and Bacardi. Her big break came when she auditioned and landed the role of Elizabeth Canoe in The Cherokee Word For Water, a feature film that showcased her impressive acting skills. Not only did she secure the role of Elizabeth Canoe, but she also played the part of the lead actress's stand-in/double, allowing her to gain valuable experience working on the film's set.
In between the main shooting and re-shoots of The Cherokee Word For Water, Jamie was a featured extra in the family comedy Thunderstruck, starring NBA star Kevin Durant. Following this, she went on to work on a few commercials for prominent companies such as AT&T, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and Dicks Sporting Goods.
Jamie's subsequent projects include playing the role of Tara alongside Booboo Stewart and Q'Orianka Kilcher in the short teenage drama Running Deer. In 2013, she was a featured extra in the musical drama Rudderless, working alongside renowned actors such as Anton Yelchin, Billy Crudup, and William H. Macy.
Her next project was the historical documentary Unconquerable, where she had the opportunity to engage in various roles, including acting, voice-over work, stunt work, and CGI modeling. Following Unconquerable, Jamie worked on a music video for an up-and-coming Oklahoma band, a small independent film about vampires, and modeled for Oklahoma Tourism.
Recently, she wrapped up the feature film Light From The Darkroom, starring Lymari Nadal, Patricia De Leon, Russell Wong, and Steven Michael Quezada. In this film, Jamie played the role of co-lead Patricia De Leon's unofficial stand-in/double, as well as a featured extra and production intern. She continues to work in film, commercial, and modeling to this day, solidifying her position as a talented and versatile actress.
