Jamison Bret Newlander is a multifaceted personality, best recognized for his captivating portrayal of Alan Frog, one of the two vampire-hunting brothers, in the 1987 cult classic film The Lost Boys, alongside Corey Feldman. He reprised his role as Alan Frog in the 2010 film Lost Boys: The Thirst, reuniting with Feldman for an epic showdown, which has been widely celebrated as the return of the Frog Brothers. Additionally, Newlander made a memorable appearance as Alan Frog in one of the alternative endings for Lost Boys: The Tribe in 2008.
Born on April 2, 1970, in Los Angeles, California, Newlander's early life was marked by his parents' divorce when he was just two years old. He wore leg braces from ages seven to nine due to a condition called Osteochondritis of the epiphysis of the femur, which later inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. However, his mother suggested he appear in commercials to fund his medical school education, inadvertently leading him to a career in acting.
As a teenager, Newlander launched his career by starring in numerous commercials and theatre plays. In 1987, he landed the iconic role of Alan Frog in The Lost Boys, followed by his appearance in the 1988 remake of The Blob. He also shared the screen with Jason Bateman and Valery Harper in the TV show "Valerie" and River Phoenix in the TV movie "Circle of Violence: A Family Drama".
A graduate of Beverly Hills High School, Newlander went on to earn a BFA in acting from New York University. Throughout his 20s, he acted on stages in New York, Vermont, Kentucky, and California. During this period, he began writing and eventually became an award-winning playwright with his 1996 play "Remember This" at Actors Theatre of Louisville.
Newlander's talents extend beyond acting, as he has also written and directed. His 2003 film "Rooster" premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival. In 2002, he married fellow actress Hanny Landau. Since then, he has appeared in various films, including "Bone Tomahawk" alongside Kurt Russell.
In his latest project, WikisoapTM, Newlander has created the first-ever user-created soap opera on the web. He also co-hosts a bi-weekly podcast called "The Jamison Newlander and Some Other Guy Show" with an unidentified co-host. Currently, he works as a writer and is developing his play "The Virtual Adventures of Riff-Cat Polito".
Recently, Newlander made a cameo appearance as a police officer in "The Tale of Two Coreys", a documentary film about the lives of his Lost Boys co-stars Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. Today, he is a devoted father of two sons and has an impressive range of work under his belt.
