Born to a Scottish chemist, Jan Read's fascination with the cinematic art form began to take shape at a remarkably early age. It was only a matter of time before his academic pursuits would be set aside, as he made the bold decision to pursue his childhood aspirations, leaving the confines of academia behind in 1946. The allure of the silver screen proved too great to resist, and Read made his way to New York, subsequently relocating to Hollywood, where he had the opportunity to hone his skills under the guidance of the renowned filmmaker Fritz Lang, learning the intricacies of both writing and producing.
