Biography

Jane Gail, born Ethel Magee in 1890 in Salem, New York, began her journey in the entertainment industry in 1905, initially appearing on stage before transitioning to silent drama and comedy films in 1912. Starting as an extra, she rapidly rose to become a leading lady the following year. Her most iconic role was as Dr. Jekyll's imperiled fiancée in the 1913 film 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde', earning her global recognition.
