Jane Velez-Mitchell is the founder and managing editor of UnChainedTV, a free streaming television network available on various devices and platforms. The network offers a wide range of content, including documentaries, cooking shows, news updates, talk shows, and music videos, all focused on promoting a compassionate plant-based lifestyle.
Velez-Mitchell has received numerous awards and accolades for her work, including four Genesis Awards/commendations from the Humane Society of the United States for her reporting on animal issues. She was also named VegNews Media Maven of the Year in 2010 and received the Compassionate Leadership Award from Mercy for Animals in 2013.
Prior to founding UnChainedTV, Velez-Mitchell hosted her own show on HLN/CNN Headline News for six years. She previously reported for the nationally syndicated show Celebrity Justice and worked as a news anchor and reporter at KCAL-TV in Los Angeles and WCBS-TV in New York. Velez-Mitchell is a graduate of New York University and began her career with reporting stints in Ft Myers, Florida, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia.
In addition to her work in television, Velez-Mitchell is a bestselling author, having written four books, including the New York Times bestsellers Exposed: The Secret Life of Jodi Arias and iWant: My Journey from Addiction and Overconsumption to a Simpler, Honest Life. She has also directed and produced several documentaries, including Anita Velez: Dancing Through Life, which won a Gracie Award in 2001.
Velez-Mitchell is the co-executive producer of the vegan cooking series New Day New Chef, which has won two Taste Awards and streams on various platforms. She lives with her three companion animals in Los Angeles.
