Janine Morita Colletti is a rising star in the classical music and theatre worlds, distinguished by her captivating and thoughtful performances that seamlessly blend both genres and disciplines. As a performer, she has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed companies such as Arizona Theatre Company, Prospect Theatre Company, Arizona Opera, Southwest Shakespeare Company, SongFest at Colburn, and Theater Works.
Janine's impressive résumé includes notable roles in productions of A Christmas Carol, As You Like It, and the world premiere of SpellBound!, a musical adaptation of Cymbeline. She has also received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Aldonza in Theater Works Live's production of Man of La Mancha. Additionally, she has worked with Arizona Opera as a study cover for the roles of Nanetta in Falstaff and Papagena in The Magic Flute.
Most recently, Janine appeared as Hua Mulan/Pocahontas/Princess Badroulbadour in Fairfield Theater Company's production of Disenchanted!, where she had the opportunity to work with the show's original off-broadway creative team. As a director, Janine has made a significant impact at the Des Moines Metro Opera, where she served as an Associate Director for their world premiere of A Thousand Acres and worked with their Apprentice Artist scenes programs.
Janine has also made a name for herself in educational theatre, directing a record-selling production of Grease at Arizona State University. She has also served as the project coordinator for ASU's New Works Reading Program, directing a staged reading of Babe: And Olympic Musical, and coordinating a workshop reading of Beth Morrison Project's Prism. Janine's latest solo directorial project was a film version of Michael Ching's Speed Dating Tonight with Arizona State University.
Janine's artistic journey began with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College, followed by her Master of Music in both Opera and Musical Theatre Performance from Arizona State University. She believes that her unique perspective as a multi-talented, bi-genre, biracial artist enables her to bring a fresh and innovative approach to storytelling, regardless of the genre.
