Jaroslav Rudiš, a multifaceted individual, was born on June 8, 1972, in the charming town of Turnov.

As a writer, Rudiš gained widespread recognition following the publication of his debut novel, Nebe pod Berlínem, or "The Sky under Berlin", in 2002. This captivating tale revolves around a Czech teacher who makes the bold decision to leave his teaching profession and embark on a new life in Berlin. There, he discovers a sense of purpose playing music in the underground scene, which takes on a mystical quality as he grapples with the haunting presence of suicide jumpers. Additionally, he finds solace in joining an indie rock group, a storyline that draws heavily from his own experiences.

Rudiš's novel received widespread acclaim, earning him the prestigious Jiří Orten Award, and solidifying its place as one of the most successful Czech books in recent years.

In collaboration with renowned draughtsman Jaromír 99, Rudiš co-created a trilogy of graphic novels, Bílý potok, Hlavní nádraží, and Zlaté hory, which takes place among the lives of railway employees. This captivating series has been adapted into an animated feature film, Alois Nebel, released in 2011.
