Jason O'Mara was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, where he developed a passion for drama and theatre. After graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Theatre, he made the bold decision to relocate to London, England, to further pursue his acting career.
This pivotal move led to a series of leading roles in acclaimed productions at some of Britain and Ireland's most renowned theatres, including The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Almeida, The Donmar, London's West End (Apollo and Comedy Theatres),and the Gate Theatre, Dublin. Concurrently, he appeared in numerous British television series for both the BBC and ITV.
In 2002, Jason made the permanent move to the United States, where he quickly became a prominent figure on American and international screens, both big and small.
Jason O'Mara's impressive career has been marked by numerous accolades, including the prestigious Irish Film and Television Award (IFTA) for Best Supporting Actor, which he won in 2017 for his portrayal of Sgt. Jack Prendergast in the film 'The Siege Of Jadotville'.
