Jason Rosette is a renowned creative writer-director, filmmaker, and educator with over two decades of experience producing motion media in the United States and abroad. His extensive portfolio spans the globe, with projects directed and produced in the USA, Central America, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, with a particular focus on the ASEAN-APAC region between 2005 and the present.
As a seasoned go-to talent, Mr. Rosette has a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scripted, factual, and short-form content that promotes philanthropic, multicultural, educational, and prosocial messages. A graduate of NYU Film (BFA) and the Royal University of Phnom Penh (MA in International Development studies),Jason Rosette has a unique background that has allowed him to excel in various roles. He self-launched his career in New York with the critically acclaimed documentary, 'BookWars', which he shot, produced, edited, and directed while working as a sidewalk bookseller in Manhattan in the mid-to-late 90's. Despite being a no-budget production, 'BookWars' received widespread critical acclaim, won the Best Documentary award at the New York Underground Film Festival, and is now part of the circulating films collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rosette has worked on a wide range of projects, including experimental films and videos, short-form PSAs, and prosocial spots for local and international NGOs. He has also directed and produced several feature films, including the multicultural sci-fi feature road movie, 'Lost in New Mexico', and the supernatural Vietnam war-themed historical drama, 'Freedom Deal: Story of Lucky'.
In addition to his filmmaking work, Mr. Rosette has been involved in various educational and philanthropic initiatives. He has worked as a volunteer educator for disadvantaged girls and boys in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and has directed and curated the CamboFest: Film and Video Festival of Cambodia, a regional film festival that aims to promote cultural exchange and understanding.
Mr. Rosette has also worked as a line producer and location manager for productions visiting the ASEAN-APAC region and has collaborated with regional animation house, Imagimax. Ltd., as a screenwriter and script doctor. He has also worked with the US Department of State and the US Embassy in Yangon, Burma, as an educator and youth group monitor.
Currently, Mr. Rosette is developing a scripted series based on the completed dramatic film, 'Freedom Deal', an OTT edutainment video portal, an array of short-form prosocial PSAs, commercial TVCs, and related work, and other US-Asia crossover scripted and factual film and video projects.
